Slash

Its the peak of doom again....

Ok. Think about this...how many times you have to pass up 3 assignments in the time of 3 days in a row? Fat chance? Yeah..I got the chance to do so.

Think again. Now u have 5 subjects....each one consists of one assignment, one presentation and one mid-term test...and the dead line is week 9-10...what u will most probably encounter?

Yeap. Stress.

Okok. You can say that I am some dumb ass who accumulates until the last hour to do so....blame my laziness....but isn't it true that most of us need the so called last-hour-inspiration to do the job?

Notice that I used "last hour" instead of "last minute" above. I am no last-minute person. I hate being last minute. It makes u pek chek like hell, that everything u have in mind will probably be gone with the wind by the time u want to install it into ur assignment.

Unfortunately, that happens. Always.

Being part of the group to complete an assignment was, is and will never be easy. The major difference between group and individual assignments is that u need cooperation. Yes. Spell that word which starts with "c" and pronounce it again. Find the dictionary of what it means if u dunno the definition.

Unlike individual assignments, which u can plan ur own sweet time and work rate and bla bla bla, group assignments don't work that way. Just don't. However, u will always get people who give u the stuff u need last minute, u got people saying they dunno what to do last minute, u got people giving u excuses that they cant do this do that last minute, u got people who says sorry the last minute.....I say, WTF?

My friends were also complaining about that there are groups of people who just don't give a fucking damn care on what u do during the whole process, then at the last minute, they appeared in front of u and give u a diskette which he/she says this is the stuff u want, which, later u found out..that it has nothing to do, nothing at all, with ur assignment. Cool huh?

*pause**cooling down*

Well, come to think again, this is life, this is how society works. Unfairness is always around. Life is like the matter and anti-matter thingy. Its about balance. U got people who are committed to their job and get rewards that they deserve and also people who just wanted the easy way out and got what they did not deserve. However, the probability of the former one is far fewer than u expect to have in the society we live today. Sometimes, u just have to wonder what happen to the world today.....hhmmm...

Press stop. Rewinds back. Now, assignments equals frustration. Group assignments equals more frustration. Lets just hope these people learn sooner or later. That taking things for granted is not part of the survival plan in this world. That no sacrifice means u suffer later on.

Phew. Did feel better after slashing out. On to work.

Final Word on OON

Whoever tell me that OON wasnt a blast, I'll be damned. Ok. There were flaws before, during and even after the event, BUT which event doesn't. So, overall, am extremely please the progress of the event.

3 months ago, OON started its progress with the appointment and introduction of its committee. Am proud to be one of them. I remembered that after the interview that we will be informed about our appointment on Monday(interviews are on Thursday and Friday). Monday came and gone, so is Tuesday and Wednesday. So it happens when u think that there is no way that u r included, the phone beeped to informed that u are appointed as XXX director. Found out later that it happens to most of the committees.

Am appointed as Asst. Security Director. Well, great, in a way. Got what I interviewed for. Not so great, in a way too. Why? Some particular personality is kinda, lets say, hazard for future commitment. So, erhem, on to work.

As the security department, u would think there is no way commitment is needed before the event. The name suggested that u kept the place and event safe for that particular nite, thats all.

Wrong. Got it all wrong.

In fact, the security department played a very important role in selecting the finalist. This is the department which is given the mission to find the potential ones around the school during the orientation week. No easy job. It is some sort of a base work as if the whole event depends on the selection of taste of this particular humble department. I mean, who would have think the security department will be doing something like that. I dint saw it coming.

The OON committee after the scouting and selecting event.

Which, after 3 days of scouting, and of course going through all the levels of audition, interviews and talent showing thingy process, the 12 finalist is chosen. *Star Wars Theme The Chosen

One playing in the background*.Then starts the training process. The first lightsaber session…oops…wrong one….the catwalk session begins just days after the selection process. Before fast forwarding to the actual eventhere’s some of the highlights:

-Former F4(Female finalist no.4) backed out because of beckoning of overseas study, is being replaced by Natalie.

-Former M3 backed out. Replaced by Jonathan.

-Photoshooting for both committees and finalist.

-Welfare Day Trip for well, er…welfare la. Its also the session where apart from the programme team, other departments can evaluate the finalist.

-Promotion Week. Finalist gave a preview of what to expect on the actual nite. Ticket redemption, sold out and still on demand(Whee!.)

-Former M2 chickened out 7 days before the actual event. Replaced by Vinz.

-Attending Talentime Nite as guest.

In an old-folks home during the welfare trip.

The finalists and committee took a pic after the training

The training is like some America’s Next Top Model process, with the lack of TV coverage and some truly astonishingly traumatic events.

As the day creeping in, the temperature risen. The stage is prepared(literally). The committees were busy as hell, so were the finalist who practiced day and night to impress for the event.

THE night came.

It was a marvellous atmosphere to be in. Especially the stage. Everything was smooth for that night, except for some minor unforeseen events, like not enough seats for VIPs(well, that shows that our event is well-anticipated), communication breakdown(talkie out of battery) and one particular person shining torchlight everywhere and bamboozing the security assistants. By the way, the finalists looked awesome that day.

The stage work by the stage team. Thanks to Schizzow for the pic.

Judges included the ever-present Amber Chia, Annabelle Kong, pop band News, one particular who knew to the popping dance who I forgot his name and the fashion dsesign director from our own school.

The programs are an excitement to watch, apart from the catwalks, dances and Q&A sessions from the finalist, there are external events such as rapping featuring Rapsody, a Blast-off contestants from TARC, yo-yo performances, and band performance including News and Cynical(er…spelling?). The MCs(there were 6 of them!) were also doing a good job, with one of them, Samson, who really lighten the whole event up.

Performance by Rapsody ft. Schizzow during the opening.

So, it happens when the queen and king were, after a month of “speculation” on who will win, chosen. Honestly, the result was kinda unexpected(it always is), especially the queen. Anyway, it was the final decision of the judges and of course a worthy winner was selected for the event.

The newly crowned king(centre) with 2 of the committees.

So, here ends the event where after 3 months of hardship and joy. The experience and friends gained from this programme is absolutely valuable for me. Its like once in life time thingy. Sometimes I always wonder the road not taken, like what if I don’t give a damn for an interview or if I am not selected to be part of it. It surely do changes the whole course of your life, as in the case for me.

The committees and the finalist after the event.

Will never regret being part of the event, and will never forget what I went through in this 3 months. OON was, and still is a blast!

The ultimate provoker: Backstabbing

I hate to do this. Meaning saying bad things about others. But if I don’t complain, I might burst, and on the way, hurt others even more.

It’s nearly 13th Friday. Yet, it is a frustrating and hair-tearing day for me. The day started rather smoothly and peacefully, until the career counselling tutorial class. There’s this section where we discuss our questions together-gether. As always, me and ma bunch of friends are the ones who speak out and answer the questions, in a quirky way tho. During the session, while we are joking away, this particular guy will eventually come up with his extremely, astonishingly, damn lame jokes….creating an anti-climax everytime we are having fun. If u say I am a crapper, then that guy must be a total crap. His effort is just soooo lame(crows flying around us)…sometimes I just wish that I can beat him up or he jz being kick outta of our course. I was pissed anyway. He was like spoiling the atmosphere on every afford, in every moment.

Then came the results of our mid-term test. And, unexpectedly, my course rep gets 30 upon 30 for it. Ok, well, congrats, proud of him. Eventually, during the whole discussion, where we were evaluating what went wrong, he just cant stop saying that “I can’t believe I got full marks”, and something like “I m gonna ask the lecturer, I think I got problem, will u believe it? I got full marks!!” and “Hey, I cant believe it! I got this question correct! I am just guessing, u noe?” and yada yada yada….repeatedly. My, I was like “ Cant u just shut up? Am trying to concentrate, and u are back there bragging about ur results. Get on with life! The whole world knows that!”. Of course, Iwas just THINKING out loud. But still, its just frustrating.

And to make matter worse, the OO nite rehearsal was cancelled, after we wait there for at least 1 hour. Reason? The finalist cant get their costumes. Wow. Talking about attitude. We committees have to rush for our clothes for the evening, and they are here asking whether are there any coats and blazers to be lend to them for their purpose. Speaking about being bossy.

And so it happens, there is a power shortage in the hostel and the college. On THIS day. On this particular day, where everything went…erm…not-so-right. Then met old friend, Christine. Sigh. This is gonna be a looooong and never –ending story.

Met her on the way home, she asked about a ticket to OO Nite, gave her. Asked why is she here, she says she wanna do assignment. She was complaining about the power shortage. I sympathized. Then asked about OO Nite whether there are many leng chais around, wanna go tackle some. I sed there is a appropriate number of them. I ask instead of hanging around with nothing to do since it’s a power shortage, why don’t go and visit Denise and Cynthia. She sed she don noe them well. Fine. I cant have her in my room, coz maybe my roommate wont like it. Well, she started asking about how handsome my roommate looks like. I sed he is just the nerdy type(soory roomie…)…and jokingly sed she was hiao(horny). She replied at least she wasn’t lesbian. Went off our way.

Later, we are suppose to have dinner. Due to power shortage, I suggested we go early. So, called Denise and Cyn and Thomas. Then received her msg, saying:
“wei..come out teman me la. Dam sian la. Like so hai oni sit here alon. Come out la.”

I sed ok fine, we are going for dinner anyway.

So, met her sitting alone. Told her that we are going to dinner early. She sed have to wait Thomas came back from class, and teman her to TBR. I explained that he will meet us there. Asked why don’t u join us go there and meet him. She insisted that she wanted to wait. I told her for the 2nd time that I already called Thomas, which he sed that he will meet us there, this time in a louder voice. She became bengang and told me the same thing and tell me to go if u want to. I sed fine.

After Denise and Cyn is done, we are set. Asked her again, whether she wanna go with us…and she showed her sourly face, and asked what about Thomas, and started complaining I shouted at her. I was pissed(again). First, I don’t shout at people with no reason. Second, I suggested that we met Thomas at TBR, easier for him, for the third time. She insisted tat he will come back here to hostel and accompany her. I sed ok. What I din hear, was that, she sed: “ Fuck off, fucker!” which later Denise and Thomas told me.

THAT was the situation.

Her version? Wow. I am impressed with HER version to Thomas.

Later, Thomas came to our table. I asked what she sed about the situation. Eventually, this is a draft on what she sed to Thomas:

“Sin Eu scold me chau hai, cibai and ma hai. He shouted at me. He sed that I am hiao because I wanted to ride on your motor…and bla bla bla.”

Hmm…I am totally dumbstruck when Thomas told me that. Let me make some clarifications:

First, I said rude words because whenever I am crapping with others. I don’t usually scold rude words when I am in a serious situation, unless u totally pissed me off.

Second, I don’t scold people chau hai. I don’t use that word. I am not used to that word. I don’t say rude words in Cantonese, except for so hai, which I describe people as stupid.

Third, I don’t scold females with rude words. I did say rude word in front of them, but scolding them with rude words is a disgrace of myself.

Fourth, I am usually frank. I don’t tell lies or backstab people, because I noe the feeling of being backstabbed.

Fifth, I don’t quarrel, or shout at people, for some minor reasons. I am reasonable. I always hold back anger. The worst I did when I am angry, usually, is complaining to my blog and TFK-ing.

As for Christine’s words, I am disappointed. Totally disappointed. Claiming that she is the child of God and Jesus, she did something worse then just lying . If her attitude causes our friendship to be sour, I am fine. But what makes me seriously turned off, was her act of trying to exaggerate a situation and backstabbing others, and trying to ruin other friendships.

This I do not forgive, and usually, I sed usually, will never.

Signed off.

Final Word On WC

After a month of hectic schedule, the World Cup finally signed off. Hows world cup u asked?
Here's ma view:

The world cup ends with the Azzuri clinching the title. Forza Italia! Their performance did remind us of the team from 1982. Going to Germany a month ago with a whole Italy plunged into football match-fizing scandal, as like in 1982, its no surprising that they are not having the slightest chance of becoming a firm favourite, whats more a finalist. Yet, a month later, with almost half of the team suspected in the scandal, they went all the way to win the Cup of Life. Fate? Maybe. Deja vu? Another possibility.

With Duphon...sorry...Buffon as a world class keeper(yet he seems unable to save a single penalty, having jumped the wrong way each time), and with the rock-like defence including Cannavaro, Meterazzi, Grosso and Zambrotta, its no surprise they only conceded 3 goals throughout the event(with 1 of them an own goal by a nervous Zarccardo).

Upfront, Gattuso and Pirlo essentially commands the midfield with free flow passes and decisive blockings of a build-up and the likes of Totti, Del Piero, Inzaghi, Toni and Gilardino finding form in front of goal, the Azzuri can be considered a very complete team.

The Azzuri lifts the World Cup. Viva Italia!

France? They, specifically the likes of Zidane, Thuram and Makelele, found the form of 1998 to reach the final. Yet, Zidane signs off with a quite foolish headbutt on Meterazzi and receives a red card for that, which more or less, cost them a World Cup. But then again, their vintage performance saw them brushed off Spain and particularly, Brazil, which is a joy to watch.

France players to Zidane: "Monsieur, ur head qualifies to head-butt the ass out of the Italians. Go for it!" Little did they know Zizou actually listens to the ill advice.

Teams that prosper includes Germany and Portugal(both semi-finalist). A young stylish Germany side provides much entertainment throughout the whole event, with Lahm, Podolski(WC Most Promising Young Player), Klose and Schweinsteiger( damn difficult name to spell) the young driving force in the squad.

Klinsmann and the subsitutes celebrates after Germany won the 3rd place playoff

As for Portugal, the mix of the young( C.Ronaldo, Miguel, Simao) and the old(Figo, Pauletta) gives them a chance to emulate the team of 1966, which they fail, having to settle for 4th place. Yet, they are an interesting side to watch with flair football played throughout the event. Credit also to coach Scolari, who brought Brazil to fame in 2002.

England and Brazil fell into the group of flops. With soooooooo many stars on their side, it is a wonder that they cant even reach the semi-final. England do not even deserve a place in the second stage. The likes of Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham and Owen is a total contrast of the ones we see in the EPL, while Ronaldinho, R.Carlos, Ronaldo and Adriano is simply a bunch of jokers on the field. World PLayer of the Year? WTF? Its better to go home and polish the award then wasting time on the field.

Roon the toon sees red. England's worst nigtmare: playing against Portugal.

Germany plays a great host this time around, including their team who proceeded to unexpected levels. Yet, there are too few goals, too few upsets and too much Oscar-standard-acting. An interesting World Cup? I tend to disagree. The underdogs did not perform well enough to upset the favourites. Most matches are settled through one goal difference or penalty shootout. Wrong decisions had been made by refs due to very outstanding acting skills by some. Maybe these people are needed somewhere else instead of on the pitch.

So here ends the football mania......not. As August looms, EPL, Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A is on the way. Whheee.....ready for the new season.

Thank goodness football aint going to end here and now at the World Cup.

Update, download, post.

Long time coming for this post. But erm..its going to be short and brief. Been busy as assignments ,tests and the Orientation Nite is around. So just a update on recent events will be enough to appease myself( and ma friends who thought I've been visiting hell).

Orientation Nite:
The event is coming near, and I am glad that everything in my disposal is going smooth...at least for the moment. First, I got a damn good location for my security work, which is INSIDE the hall. Meaning that apart from working, my helpers can also watch the leng luis and leng chais above and below the stage. Anyway, this is the main attraction to get them become my helper. Heh.

As for the so called Wellfare Day, well, everything went smooth. Full stop. Nothing much, frankly. Just some publicity and a covered up to evaluate the finalists. Ticket redemption and Promo Week is also smooth. The tickets are sold out and still in demand. Cool. Just damn cool. Especially I got news that Talent Time Nite has like 100 tickets still available. On demand vs. still available. That just sound so...satisfying. Kakaka.

Bought my apple green shirt for the nite. Wee. It was a bargain. Damn good bargain. Its from the brand Key Ng. Whoa. What a brand, wei. Actually, I have no idea its such a good brand. Anyway. Thx to Denise and Cynthia. With their assistance(they found it), I got it for 90 bucks Minus 50 percent. Bargain, aint it? As for the slack, check. Coat..well...Jeff, the chairman for OO Nite said it will be "provided" by the college. So i assumed everything is under control, for now.

World Cup:
Yeap, WC. I said in the last post that I will update it frequently. Rewind and erase that. I have no time seriously. So, here it goes in a summary.

Basically its a predictable World Cup. With the exception of the France-Brazil game. Group stages saw the powerhouse in football, such as host Germany, England, Argentina, Brazil and Spain, etc. etc. got into the 2nd stage. As for last 16, Germany ease through Sweden, England went pass Ecuador, the hard way again, Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Portugal, France and Ukraine beat their respective opponents to go to the quarter finals.

Quater finals saw Argentina beaten by the host. England hampered by a understrength Portugal, Italy cruise through beating Ukraine and talented Brazil got kicked out by old men France.

My opinion? England should be kicked out damn long time before they went into 2nd stage. Poor performance. Suspected half of the England team is using subs while they themselves are enjoying their holidays God-knows where. Brazil got beaten is kinda expected. Too many stars, too glitering. They got blinded eventually. Happened before way back in 1970s and Real Madrid told you the story too. Lets pray Chelsea is the next victim. Germany, except for Lame Man,sorry, Lehmann, I like the team. If only Kahn is playing, I would have supported them at the beginning. Argentina, too bad, unlucky. Portugal, pray that they will be in the Finals.

Assignment and Studies:

Lots of assignments this time. Interesting ones, usual suspects and of course boring ones. The pile is higher than the first year. Duh. Had anxiety whenever I think of them(arrgh). Apart from that, it will be play game, eat, online, sleep and play game, eat, online, sleep and.............

Studies? Will be my undoing this time if I dont start now. Basically, its hard to catch up every week what the lecturer had thought. But am still struggling, which is good. At least I am trying, see?

Others:

Being appointed as the secretary for Mass Com Society out of no where. Then, took up the post, still unofficially, as Asst. Program Designer for Music Society , albeit Gang Ee, which I will be helping him out. My friends are still the same. Kuhan and James quit smoking. Whee. Thomas is exhausted after the church stuff and studies. Denise is tired because she has to endure people( apart from her BF) calling her dear every week. Cynthia, no change, maybe. Newbies such as Bang, Han, Quan and Jeanne, still the same. Stan is still the Chauffeur, haha. Utham, will be holding Amber Chia's hand during OO Nite, ish. As for friends around the world, actually around Malaysia, havent heard from them frequently. Miss all of you.

Hence ends the update. No need to stay tuned as the next blog will be probably like light years away.
