Stands for Advanced Diploma. And it ain't easy.
Having five subjects is already tough by standards. And be it a coincidence, it has to be us, the 07/08 badge to be the historically first ever group to have English for Management in Advanced Diploma Level. Prior to this, we are already the first-ever for many things. First-ever to take PTS. First-ever to have Science in UPSR. First-ever to have crappy Literatures in PMR. First-Ever to have our SPM format nipped and tucked. And now this....Guess I (and many more others) are the world's finest guinea piggies to be tested at.
And now, my course got 6 subs to tackle with. And what makes me pig-dicked is of course the English subject. Who the hell still thinks that learning ABC is still needed in Advanced Diploma?
Two things I hated English in TARC is one..they are absolutely a waste of time, energy and money. EMSD had to admit that they do not provide quality English teachers with interesting topics for the subjects, which leads to the second reason....they have the tendency to set the standards so friggin' high, that people in the range of B is the majority. What? TARC students are really that bad huh? Do note I have friends who scored A1 in 1119 English and English being their primary speaking language getting B. Beyond imagination.
Enough rantings there. Subs that I had are Cognitive Psych., Politics and the Media, Theories of Personality, Research Methods in Behavioral Science (or whatever), useless English for Management and Pendidikan Moral (another dumbass subject).
Cog. Psy.
Its the usual lecturer with calibre (Miss Aggy Hooi), so it is interesting and informative as usual. Nothing special here. Just that psychology has become very abstract here, which is a lil' bit hard to do catch up if missed classes.
Politics and Media
Not of our field. And definitely a sucker, if not armed with background knowledge of Malaysian politics (shout out to the girls in my class, XD). It wasn't that bad, and it opens up your eye to the dirtiest place in Malaysia( and any part of the world).
Theories of Personality
Complicated and complex subject with a weirdo lecturer, with respect. "It is always advisable to be nice to first time lecturers, and not to expect too much from them" is the advice that we are suppose to go by. But by the end of the day, we made evaluations no matter how, and pitifully she was to be awarded the worst lecturer we got so far. Round of applause please. Claimed to have done public speaking and is supervisor-phobic ("Please stay in the class room, I know that we still got 30 minutes left, but if I let you guys go, the supervisor will know." Little did she know of stuff called evaluation forms.), got heart-attack when asked relevant but difficult questions and beats around the bush all the time. Overall, a subject doomed.
Research Methods.
As usual, statistics, reliability, validity, experiment, bias and charts comes to mind.
English for Management (see above comment)
Moral dan Etika
Pointless subject, but amazingly with a good lecturer.
Result wise, getting 3.5 will be priceless.
