I think I just found out why I used to camp in a crowded McD and studied for next day's exam.
Answer: It is the calm in the buzz.
It seems ridiculous and ironic. You probably think wtf does that work. To be honest, I don't have the answer. Just maybe some hypothesis.
I find that a place too silent will tend to bore you out. And in addition, a sudden change like an idiot suddenly screaming because just got owned in dota, can be very frustrating distraction. In contrast, when you are at a place filled with buzz, it tends to cancel out everything that is termed "noisy".
Got this hypo when sitting at Starbucks at QB where a band was singing to a huge crowd and the traffic buzzing at the background.
